MEIGS COUNTY, TN : 7-year-old girl, school bus driver killed in Meigs County crash on Tuesday, 27th October, 2020

A 7-year-old student and a bus driver were killed in a crash in Meigs County Tuesday afternoon, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash, which involved a school bus and a Service Electric utility service vehicle, happened along Highway 58 near Lamontville Road.

Twenty-two students were onboard the bus involved, the THP said. Seven of those students were transported to a hospital, where one was listed in critical condition.

“Never in your wildest dreams do you know when you go out the door in the morning that you’ll deal with something like this. It’s hard for me, I can just imagine the way our families are feeling right now, it’s a tragedy,” said Clint Baker, Director of Meigs County Schools.
