Leesburg, VA : Two dead after a crash in Loudoun County on Sunday morning, January 22, 2017
Two people are dead as a result of a single vehicle crash this morning after the driver of the vehicle fled from authorities during an attempted traffic stop.
Shortly before 1:30 a.m., a Loudoun Sheriff’s Deputy was running RADAR and observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed heading northbound on Route 606 (Old Ox Road) near Dulles West Boulevard.
The deputy, according to reports, initiated a traffic stop and the driver disregarded a red traffic light and continued at a high rate of speed. The deputy marked in pursuit before losing sight of the vehicle. A short time later the deputy discovered the driver crashed into a tree in the area of Evergreen Mills Road and Stone Springs Boulevard near Arcola. The total time of the traffic pursuit was less than 30 seconds, according to LCSO.
The driver of the vehicle was pulled from the car by the deputy as the vehicle went up in flames. Two passengers inside died at the scene. The names of the two victims have not been released pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
The driver, David G. Brown, 25, of Ashburn, has been charged with reckless driving, according to the LCSO. The crash remains under investigation by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit and additional charges are likely.
Further details will be released as they become available.
