Detroit ,MI :Driver killed, 2 passengers hurt after SUV pursued by police slams into vacant house on Thursday ,July 2nd 2015
One man has been killed and two others hurt as the SUV they were in slammed into a vacant house while being pursued by Detroit police.
Officer Shanelle Williams says police stopped the Ford Explorer for speeding about 1:20 p.m. Thursday on Detroit's west side.
The driver sped off after officers noticed ammunition inside the SUV. Williams said officers chased the Explorer and cut off the pursuit after they were notified the vehicle had crashed.
Two weapons were recovered.
Chief James Craig told reporters that the driver had recently been released from prison and was wearing a GPS tether.
Two Detroit children were killed June 24 when a car fleeing police struck them on the city's east side. Three other children and a woman were hurt.
