Canarsie, NY : 9-year-old girl killed in Brooklyn crash to be laid to rest on May 14th 2014
Friends and family will gather Wednesday to bid a final farewell to a young girl killed in a car crash in Brooklyn.
Funeral services will be held in East Flatbush as mourners say goodbye to 9-year-old Rebecca Ramnarine.
She was heading home from church in a friend's car when it was hit by a minivan whose driver was fleeing police.
Kenneth Palache now faces a string of charges, including manslaughter.
Police were chasing Palache's van because it had been involved in an earlier accident.
"She had on my bright red lipstick and she thought she was the diva," mother Abiola Ramnarine said at a vigil last week. "And I would give anything to have that diva back for just one minute."
The deadly chain of events played out around 7 p.m. after the family left church on Remsen Avenue and Avenue N in Canarsie.
Area residents say the multi-car collision was one of the worst accidents they've ever seen, describing the impact as a loud roar like thunder. They say the worst part was watching responders pull the victim's lifeless body from the vehicle.
