Rochester,MI : Man arrested for DUI after crash on Eight Mile on November, Tuesday 7th 2017
A 25-year-old Novi man was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence after a Nov. 7 crash on eastbound Eight Mile, just west of Haggerty.
The man was driving a Chevrolet Equinox that rear-ended a Ford Mustang driven by a 47-year-old Fenton woman at about 6:45 p.m., a Northville Township Police Department report said. The suspect told police he had looked down at the radio for a moment while driving and, when he looked up, the Mustang was stopped ahead of him.
Police estimated the Mustang was pushed forward about 100 feet by the impact. Both drivers complained of injuries and the woman's face was bleeding, but both refused to be transported to a hospital, police said.
The man initially told police he hadn't been drinking, but then said he had been and that he'd had beer an hour or two before, police said. At the police station, two tests registered blood-alcohol contents of 0.07 and 0.08 percent, the report said.
The suspect was released early the next morning on a $300 bond and with a Wednesday, Nov. 29, date in 35th District Court. The Fenton woman was picked up by relatives.
