One person was extricated from a car and taken to the hospital after two cars crashed Saturday in Ventura, officials said.
The crash was reported at 2:06 p.m. near the intersection of Ralston Street and Ramelli Avenue.
One car hit the other vehicle at a high rate of speed directly striking the passenger door, officials said.
A female was trapped inside one of the vehicles and crews had to use the Jaws of Life and high tension steel cutters to free her. About 13 minutes later the female was extricated and taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries, officials said.
Flammable liquids escaped both vehicles and absorbent and fire prevention measures were put in place to minimize the threat of fire. Fire and tow companies cleaned the intersection with the Ventura Streets department to ensure the collision site was free of debris and hazards, authorities said.
