A 21-year-old Jefferson County man was killed Monday night in a multi-car crash on Interstate 459 in Bessemer.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office today identified the man as Kaleb Hakeem Fletcher, of Mount Olive. Authorities said Fletcher was on his way to Tuscaloosa when he was killed.
The crash happened about 7:30 p.m. Fletcher was the driver and lone occupant of a 2006 Honda Civic traveling southbound on I-459. His car left the road and crossed the median into the northbound lanes.
Fletcher's car was then hit by a Ford F-150 pickup truck and a Buick Century. The impact split Fletchers car in half, authorities said, and he was thrown from the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead on the scene at 7:40 p.m. Information on other possible injuries wasn't immediately available.
Bessemer police are investigating the wreck. More information will be released as it becomes available.
