Two teens were injured in a one-vehicle crash shortly before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 17.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred on County Road 2560, one mile east of Higbee, when Courtanie L. Johnson, 18, of Higbee, lost control of the 2007 Ford Focus she was driving on loose gravel. Johnson overcorrected and traveled off the left side of the road, the vehicle overturned and struck a tree.
Johnson reportedly sustained moderate injuries. Her passenger Katie J. Williams, 16, of Slater, sustained minor injuries. Both were transported to a Columbia hospital by Randolph County Ambulance, the report stated.
The teens were both wearing safety devices, according to the report. MSHP was assisted on scene by Randolph County Ambulance, Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Randolph County Volunteer Fire Department and Higbee Fire Department.
