RAYNHAM, MA : A 34-year-old man died as a result of injuries he sustained in the single-car crash on April, Sunday 16th 2017
A man died as a result of injuries he suffered when his car struck a tree and rolled over Sunday night.
Police say 34-year-old Michael O’Brien of South Easton died at the hospital after the crash.
The single-car crash occurred about 6:26 p.m. in the area of 172 Elm Street West.
When firefighters arrived, they reported it appeared CPR was already in progress. The first engine on scene quickly requested the availability of a medical helicopter, but decided not to have one respond to town.
O’Brien was rushed by ambulance to Morton Hospital in Taunton, where authorities said he died.
An unidentified male passenger in the car was set to be taken to Rhode Island Hospital, but was instead brought to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are still investigating the exact cause of the crash, but believe speed may have been a factor.
“(Speed) is definitely being investigated as a contributing factor,” Capt. Richard Pacheco said.
The initial investigation suggests O’Brien was driving westbound on Elm Street West when he crossed into the opposite lane and struck the tree.
The crash is being investigated by Raynham police detectives as well as the state police Crime Prevention and Control Unit and Crime Scene Services Section.
Investigators cleared the scene a few hours later, about 9:10 p.m.
