Bakersfield, CA : A vehicle collision on Tuesday, August 15, 2017

The Bakersfield Police Department responded to reports of a vehicle collision at the 7500 block of District Blvd. Monday just after 4:30 p.m.

When officers arrived to the scene, they found an adult man in the vehicle suffering from minor to moderate injuries. The man was taken to a local hospital. Officers also found an adult female passenger that died at the scene, says a BPD news release.

According to BPD's preliminary investigation, the man was driving westbound at about 70 miles per hour and later lost control of the vehicle, which rotated and hit the rear trailer of a commercial vehicle that was stopped.

The driver of the commercial vehicle was not injured.
