MARENGO, IA : Mom, son killed in Iowa County crash on Thursday, October 6th, 2016

A mother and her son died Thursday morning in a crash on Highway 212 in Iowa County.

The Iowa County Sheriff's Office was called out at 7:12 a.m. for the crash about five miles west of Marengo.

The Sheriff's Office said 18-year-old Bethany Clark was driving eastbound when her vehicle left the roadway around 7 a.m. Also in the vehicle was her 2-year-old son Roran Clark. Both of them died at the scene.

The Sheriff's Office says Clark lost control on the frost covered road and hit a creek embankment. Her car quickly caught on fire.

Iowa State Patrol, Marengo Fire Department, Iowa County Emergency Management, Ladora QRS, Iowa County Ambulance Service and Iowa County Rescue also assisted with this case.
