Miami,FL: 6 students injured in Miami-Dade school van crash on August, Monday 21st 2017
Six children were were injured Monday when a student transportation van was involved in a crash in a southwest Miami-Dade County neighborhood.
Sky 10 was overhead as the van registered to Happy Kids was on its side on the sidewalk at 18115 SW 105th Ave.
Eleven students from Terra Environmental Research Institute were on the van at the time of the crash.
Six teenagers were taken to Jackson South Medical Center. None of their injuries were considered life-threatening.
"On arrival it was total chaos," Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Cpt. Leonel Reyes told Local 10 News. "Kids, people running and screaming all over the place. We were able to calm the situation, sit everyone down, and kind of find out how many people were hurt."
The driver of the Nissan Sentra involved in the collision was also injured.
Monday was the first day of school in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
