Barr Township, PA : Coroner identifies victim of fatal Barr Township crash in the 1100 block of Nicktown Hill Road on Thursday, 30th August 2018

Authorities have released the name of a person who died Thursday in a car crash in Barr Township.

According to Cambria County Coroner Jeffrey Lees, David Bennett, 54, of Nicktown, died of chest injuries due to blunt force trauma. His death was ruled accidental.

Around 10:13 a.m. Thursday, Lees said, Bennett was traveling southbound in a passenger car in the 1100 block of Nicktown Hill Road, came out of a sharp curve and hit a tree head-on.

Bennett was the only occupant of the vehicle, Lees added, and was not wearing a seatbelt. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lees said he believes Bennett was experiencing some type of medical event Thursday morning and was on his way to the hospital at the time of the crash.
