Frederick, MD : Man injured in rollover ATV crash near Mt. Airy on Saturday afternoon, October 29, 2016
A man was flown to a Baltimore hospital after a rollover crash Saturday afternoon near Mount Airy involving an ATV, according to fire and rescue officials.
The man was flown by a Maryland State Police helicopter to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment shortly after units arrived at the scene in an open field in the 12000 block of Penn Shop Road, said Lt. James Davis, a supervisor with the Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services.
The crash was reported off the roadway at 3:45 p.m., Davis said.
Davis could not discuss the extent of the man's injuries, but confirmed he was categorized as a priority 1 patient. Priority 1 patients are designated as "unstable patients with life-threatening injury or illness," according to the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems.
The injured man was only identified as an adult male as of Saturday evening.
