Genoa Township, MI : Bicyclist dies after being hit by car near Brighton on Tuesday, December 6, 2016

A 37-year-old bicyclist died Tuesday, Dec. 6, after being struck by a car north of Brighton.

At 7 p.m., Michigan State Police troopers responded to a fatal crash at Grand River Avenue near Court Street in Livingston County's Genoa Township.

Bryce D. Caudell was on a bike trying to cross to the north side of Grand River when a 56-year-old Brighton woman driving westbound in a 2010 PT Cruiser struck him, according to MSP.

He died at the scene.

A witness told MSP the bicyclist was trying to cross the street perpendicular to oncoming traffic and seemed to "appear out of nowhere."

Troopers do not believe alcohol or speed were a factor in the crash.

Livingston County EMS, the Brighton Fire Department and the Livingston County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
