CONCORD, MA : 86-year-old woman killed in Concord crash near Ayers Road on Wednesday, 2nd January 2019

Concord police are investigating a crash that left an elderly woman dead Wednesday afternoon.

Police say just after 3 p.m. Wednesday, an 86-year-old woman was crossing the street at Clayton Road, near Ayers Road in Concord when she was struck by a car. The woman was walking outside the crosswalk, police say.

The driver of the suspected car stayed on scene and cooperated authorities. Police say drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the crash.

The intersection where the crash occurred, between Clayton Road and Valley Crest Drive, was closed for about three hours.

The name of the victim has not been released, though authorities say she was a Clayton resident. Those who witnessed the incident are asked to contact the Concord Police Department.
