RED BLUFF, CA : Lathrop man arrested in Interstate 5 fatal collision on Tuesday, 1st December, 2020

A Lathrop man was arrested Tuesday following a fatal collision on northbound Interstate 5 resulting in the death of a 64-year-old Weed woman.

Mohammad Khesrawi, 52, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to a Red Bluff CHP press release issued Wednesday morning.

The collision took place about 11:40 p.m. Tuesday on northbound Interstate 5, south of Tehama Avenue. Khesrawi was driving north in the left lane in a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder when, due to his level of intoxication, he rear-ended a 2009 Subaru Forester driven by Ea Douangaphay, 40, of Weed, the release said.

The impact caused Douangaphay to lose control of the Subaru, which overturned, resulting in a passenger in the back seat being thrown from the vehicle, the release said. It is unknown whether the woman was wearing a seat belt.

Douangaphay had minor injuries, but said he would seek his own aid while the front passenger, identified in the release as Ting Leutmixay, 53, of Weed was taken to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital with major injuries.
