SUMMIT, IL : Spring Grove man dies in construction accident in Summit on Monday, December 12th 2016
Authorities said a Spring Grove construction worker has died at a suburban Chicago reservoir that’s being built as part of a project to curb flooding and pollution.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said 55-year-old Robert Ellison was pronounced dead Monday afternoon at the McCook Reservoir worksite in Summit.
Workplace safety officials are investigating along with police in Summit.
Circumstances of the worker’s death weren’t immediately released. An autopsy was planned Tuesday to determine the cause of death.
The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago said the reservoir is part of the Deep Tunnel project to improve flood control and prevent water pollution.
