Albany,NY : Head-on collision, crash involving parked car on Montreal streets on December, Sunday 10th 2017

The first, a violent collision at about 1:50 a.m. in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough, occurred when a car travelling west on Notre-Dame St. near Alphonse-D.-Roy St. veered into the oncoming lane for no apparent reason. It smashed head-on into another vehicle.

Firefighters had to use rescue tools to pry apart the wreckage and pull free three people trapped inside.

Fortunately, no one was hurt, police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant said, but as a precaution everyone was sent to hospital.

One driver, 53, was arrested on the spot for drunk driving. Blood analysis at the hospital later confirmed his alcohol level was above the legal limit.

Notre-Dame was closed until dawn while the cars were removed.

Later, a woman flipped her car at 3:40 a.m. on Guy St. near Ste-Catherine St. W.

The driver, 36, was heading south on Guy when she hit a parked car, flipping her vehicle on impact. The driver was taken to a hospital with injuries but police did not fear for her life.

Police are investigating, with the theory that the driver did not see the parked car because “she was looking at her cell phone,” Brabant said.
