Tuscaloosa,AL : Four-vehicle collision triggered by blown tire on August, Wednesday 16th 2017
A chain-reaction crash on Wednesday snarled traffic near a north Tuscaloosa intersection for much of the morning.
Lt. Teena Richardson, a Tuscaloosa police spokeswoman, said the four-vehicle accident occurred at about 7:38 a.m. at the intersection of New Watermelon and Rice Mine roads.
A dump truck blew a tire near the CVS Pharmacy, Richardson said, and collided with another truck from the same, unnamed company.
This triggered a chain reaction that led to two other vehicles being struck.
Richardson reported no injuries.
“There was a significant amount of oil spilled on the roadway,” Richardson said via email at 10:27 a.m. “Crews are in the area cleaning the scene up right now.”
The roadway was reopened by 11:30 a.m.
