A 38-year-old woman was killed tonight in a two-vehicle crash at U.S. Route 62 and California Avenue NE intersection.

Kristy Griffith of Louisville was a passenger in a Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Daniel Sharpless, 35, of Louisville, according to the Stark County Sheriff’s Office. The crash occurred around 6 tonight.

Sheriff George Maier said Sharpless was traveling west on Route 62, attempting to make a left turn onto California Avenue, and entered the path of an eastbound pickup truck on the highway.

The truck, a Chevrolet Colorado, was driven by David Jones Jr., 47, of Warren. He and his passenger, Dwayne Ayers,49, also of Warren, sustained minor injuries. Jones, according to sheriff deputies, ran through a red light at the intersection.

Griffith was pronounced dead at Mercy Medical Center.

“A pickup truck hit on her passenger door,” said Rick Walters, an investigator with the Stark County Coroner’s Office.

Sharpless also had minor injuries, according to deputies

“There could be something come from their investigation,” Maier said. “And charges could be filed.”

The wreck was just northwest of Louisville.
