Calhoun County, MS : 57-year-old Barry Hanks dead and 37-year-old Darlene Farmer injured in three-vehicle crash on Highway 8 in Calhoun County on Monday morning, April 20, 2015
One person is dead and another seriously injured in a three-vehicle accident Monday morning in Calhoun County.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Darlene Farmer, 37, of Coffeeville, was traveling west on Highway 8 in a 2007 Chevrolet pickup at about 8:30 a.m. when she attempted to pass another vehicle. Her truck collided head-on with an east-bound Ford F-150 truck driven by Barry Hanks, 57, of Grenada.
A third vehicle, driven by Danielle King, 23, of Grenada, was traveling east and also collided with the Ford truck after the initial collision.
Hanks died at the scene, while Farmer was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo with serious injuries. King sustained no major injuries and was not transported.
The accident, which occurred near County Road 380, remains under investigation by the MHP.
