Martinez,CA : Driver in fatal crash on Highway 4 in Martinez identfied on August, Sunday 13th 2017

Authorities on Monday identified a man who died in a one-car crash on Highway 4 early Sunday.

Jiwon Kim, 41, of Del Monte, veered off the westbound lanes near the Alhambra Avenue exit around 4:05 a.m. and crashed into a tree, California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Brandon Correia said. The CHP on Sunday said Kim was from Richmond, but authorities said he just relocated.

Kim died at the scene. He had been driving a Toyota Camry.

The CHP does not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, but only an autopsy can determined if Kim suffered a medical event behind the wheel.
