Los Angeles, CA : Northbound 1-5 closed in Los Angeles after crash, fuel spill on Tuesday, November 1, 2016
All northbound lanes of Interstate 5 in Los Angeles were closed for hours after a tanker truck overturned and spilled nearly 1,800 gallons of diesel fuel into lanes.
Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey says nobody was hurt in the single-vehicle crash late Tuesday near Atwater Village north of downtown LA.
Humphrey says the tank of the truck, which carried 1,800 gallons of fuel, was punctured and leaked nearly all its content on the freeway.
Northbound lanes on the key north-south artery were closed through the night and reopened as the Wednesday morning commute began.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
