Pleasant Hill , CA : One person was killed in a crash caused by rain on Interstate 680 On Wednesday morning, November 19th 2014
Pleasant Hill, California
Bay Area roads proved especially treacherous Wednesday as one person was killed in a crash on Interstate 680 in Pleasant Hill in the evening and earlier in the day a 10-car pileup sent three people to the hospital about three miles south on I-680, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.
Just before 7 p.m., the CHP received reports of a crash just off southbound I-680 on the Monument Boulevard offramp. Officers found at least two damaged cars and one man suffering from major injuries, the spokesman said.
A witness told officers that a Ford Escape collided with another vehicle on the freeway and went airborne, landing on the offramp below, where rescue workers found the driver out of the vehicle and unresponsive, said CHP Officer Jonathan Fransen.
The man, who was not identified, died at the scene. It was unclear if the crash caused any other injuries, the spokesman said.
