Cape Coral, FL: Jack-knifed beer truck closes northbound Santa Barbara Blvd. on Thursday, July 30th 2015
A Bud Light truck has crashed into the backyard of a Cape Coral home, bringing the northbound lanes of the 3900 block of Santa Barbara Blvd. to a standstill. The truck missed the home by feet, and no one was hurt. The crash happened on Santa Barbara Boulevard near SE 38th Terrace. The homeowner told Four in Your Corner's Lisa Greenberg she thought the loud crash was thunder, and didn't go outside to check. Then someone knocked on her front door and told her to check out back."I was awful shocked!" Mickie Bramlett, the homeowner said. The truck was jack knifed into one of her avocado trees, and the fence surrounding her backyard was crushed. The guardrail along the section of Santa Barbara was mangled.Neighbors rushed over to see what was going on."We hear a huge bang like something exploded, and we came running outside," neighbor Tarrita Brown said.Gallons of fuel were pouring out of the truck, so crews worked quickly to get it contained while directing traffic on Santa Barbara and trying to get the truck out of the yard.Meanwhile, Bramlett said she's glad the truck, the backyard fence, and the guardrail were the only things mangled in the mess."Everything can be fixed, but no one can fix a life," she said.Crews are still working to get the area cleared and the crash is still under investigation by Cape Coral Police.
