New Russia Township , OH : Female drive killed after She hit tree and SUV caught fire along Oberlin Road on Saturday evening ,April 4th 2015

An early morning crash on Oberlin Road that saw an SUV consumed by fire and claimed the life of its female driver is under investigation by the Ohio Highway Patrol.
The identity of the woman had not been released by Lorain County Coroner Dr. Stephen Evans, who could not be reached for comment Saturday evening.
The crash is believed to have occurred sometime prior to 4:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Sgt.Tim Hoffman of the patrol.
A passing motorist first notified the patrol at 4:30 a.m. in a 911 call after coming upon the flaming vehicle, Hoffman said.
“It was engulfed in flame by then, but we’re not certain how long before that the accident actually occurred,” Hoffman said. “There were no reports of anyone hearing noise or seeing anything. There were no witnesses to the actual crash.”
According to an initial investigation, troopers determined the woman driver was southbound on Oberlin Road in a 1994 Ford Explorer when it went off the right side of the road about a half-mile south of Russia Road.
The vehicle struck an embankment along a ditch line and went airborne before coming back down on the ground where it continued through a residential property before traveling back onto Oberlin Road, Hoffman said.
The Explorer then went off the left side of the road where it struck a tree and then a rock.
“We have no idea how long the vehicle was there or exactly when the fire began,” Hoffman said.
When troopers arrived, they found the driver, who was alone, partially outside of the vehicle.
“We can’t say at this time why she was partially in and partially outside of the vehicle,” Hoffman said.
Hoffman acknowledged the woman, who died at the scene, suffered extensive burns.
It also is unknown if the driver was wearing a seat belt.
It is not known if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident.
