Fairfield, CA : Two people killed in 2-vehicle crash EB I-80 in Fairfield on Sunday morning, May 1, 2016

Two people died in a crash on eastbound Interstate 80 in Fairfield Sunday morning, the California Highway Patrol said in a press release.

The CHP received a report around 5:25 a.m. about the crash west of Lagoon Valley Road, officials said.

A 28-year-old woman was driving a 2001 Honda Accord while intoxicated on eastbound I-80, officials said. A 2016 Jeep SUV was parked on the right shoulder, with three people inside and the driver, identified as Fabiola Torres, 25, of Hailey, Idaho, was standing outside the passenger side of the vehicle because he was feeling ill.

According to the CHP, the 28-year-old woman drifted to the right, onto the right shoulder and collided with the Jeep. The force of the collision spun the Jeep, causing it to hit Torres.

A 53-year-old woman who was the sitting in the back of the Jeep suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Torres and the other two passengers, identified by officials as Patricia Rincon, 36, of Hailey, Idaho, and Adolfo Rincon, 28, also of Hailey, Idaho, were taken to a hospital for treatment of their injuries, the CHP said.

The 28-year-old woman was trapped in her car and suffered major injuries, the CHP said. Emergency crews had to break her out of her vehicle and she was taken to a hospital. Doctors discovered she was suffering from internal bleeding and rushed her to surgery. She succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Authorities have not released the names of the victims. No other information was released on the condition of the other people.
