Burley, ID : 81-year-old Kimberly man killed in crash near Hazelton on Tuesday, August 2, 2016

An 81-year-old Kimberly man was killed Tuesday in a crash between his car and a semitrailer southwest of Hazelton.

The driver, Norman J. Nelson was westbound on 900 South in a 2003 Acura about 4:45 p.m. Ruben R. Larson, 60, of Murtaugh, was southbound in a Kenworth pulling a trailer. Nelson stopped at a stop sign at the intersection and then proceeded, driving in front of Larson, Idaho State Police said.

Larson did not have a stop sign and the Kenworth struck the Acura on the passenger side.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

Crews were originally responding to extricate Nelson from the car, a SIRCOMM dispatcher said, but he died at the scene. His family has been notified.

Emergency crews from First Segregation Fire District, Magic Valley Paramedics, Idaho State Police and the Jerome County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.
