Orland, ME : Woman suffers life-threatening injuries in Orland head-on crash on Wednesday afternoon, August 3, 2016
A woman driving a Honda SUV suffered life-threatening injuries in a head-on crash with a pickup truck Wednesday afternoon on U.S. Route 1, also known as Acadia Highway, a Hancock County sheriff’s deputy said Wednesday evening.
The woman, whose name was not immediately available, was flown by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Deputy Eric McLaughlin said.
He said that one of the three children who were passengers in the Ford F-150 pickup involved in the crash was taken to EMMC by ambulance and that the other two children were taken to another area hospital for treatment of injuries that were less serious. Their names also were not available Wednesday evening.
The crash happened about 2:50 p.m. about half a mile from the Big Apple store, McLaughlin said. He said that the crash is being reconstructed and it was not yet clear what caused the vehicles to collide.
McLaughlin said traffic was diverted around the crash site for about three hours before Acadia Highway was reopened to traffic.
