Defiance, OH : Haviland man killed in one-vehicle crash Wednesday

A Paulding County man was killed late Wednesday evening in a one-vehicle crash near here.
Philip Miller, 53, Haviland, died at the scene.
According to troopers of the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Van Wert post, at 11:55 p.m., Miller was westbound on Township Road 48, west of Township Road 79, and drove off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a utility pole, entered the roadway and went off the left side of the road.
The vehicle drove through a field and overturned.
Troopers reported that Miller was ejected from the vehicle, as he was not wearing a safety belt. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash.
Assisting at the scene were Scott Fire/EMS, Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and Paulding County Coroner Dr. Joseph Kuhn.
Damage was heavy to the vehicle.
