Madison, WI : Drivers involved in the school bus crash on May, Tuesday, 23rd 2017
The drivers involved in the school bus crash on Tuesday have been released by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.Authorities said the driver of the school bus was identified as Jon Cooley, age 75 of Bagley. Cooley was driving a Warco School Bus with 8 River Ridge students on board that ranged in ages from 5 to 15 years old.
Cooley was traveling north across County Road P when a dump truck driven by Randy Pugh, age 59 of Viola, came over the hills from the east and collided with the bus.
After the collision the dump truck went into ditch and came to a stop. The bus spun around into the south ditch, through a fence and came to rest in a field. One child was ejected from the school bus.
According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, six children and the bus driver were transported to area hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to severe. Five of the passengers are seriously injured and three others were treated at the scene.
"Please pray for a full and speedy recovery for all involved," said the sheriff's office.
The crash remains under investigation.
