Newport,VI : one person was killed and two others were critically injured on may, monday 8th 2017

Authorities say one person was killed and two others were critically injured when their vehicle crashed into a tree and fire hydrant.

The Daily Press reports (http://bit.ly/2qlJ2Sn) the car appears to have overturned after the impact Monday.

Newport News Master Police Officer Brandon Maynard says firefighters extricated three people from the overturned car wreck. He says a man was pronounced dead moments after emergency responders arrived. The other two were transported to the hospital with critical injuries.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
