Scott Count, VA : One killed in Scott County crash on Tuesday, 13th November 2018

Virginia State Police Master Trooper J.E. Day Jr. is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash in Scott County.According to a news release from Corinne N. Geller, public relations director, Day was called to the scene at 12:43 p.m.
Geller said a 2006 Toyota Corolla was traveling south on Route 23 when it attempted to make a left turn at the intersection with Route 871. The Toyota pulled into the path of a southbound 2018 Chevrolet pickup truck. The pickup was unable to avoid the Toyota and struck it in the side.

The adult male driver of the Toyota was transported to Holston Valley Medical Center for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries. His passenger, an adult female, died at the scene. Neither was wearing seat belts, according to the release. Authorities are still in the process of notifying the passenger's next of kin.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 35-year-old female from Clintwood, was transported to Holston Valley for treatment of minor injuries. She was wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation. Charges are pending.
