ROCHESTER, NH : A 23-year-old Rochester man was badly injured in a crash on May, Monday 8th 2017
A 23-year-old Rochester man was badly injured late Sunday night when the car he was driving struck a utility pole and then careened into a railing in the parking lot of a local business, police said.
Nathan Sweeney sustained serious injuries in the crash, which happened at around 10 p.m., according to a press release issued Monday morning by Rochester Police. Sweeney, who was partially ejected from his vehicle, was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester by Frisbie EMS.
Rochester Police, Fire and Frisbie EMS responded to North Main Street, in the area of Cleary’s Cleaner and Charlie’s Pizza, for the report of motor vehicle accident involving a single vehicle into the building. It was reported there was heavy damage to the vehicle and there was injury.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel located the vehicle up on the railing of the walkway to the business. The vehicle had also struck a utility pole, causing major damage to the pole, resulting in a loss of power to some nearby residences, police said. The vehicle sustained heavy damage and Sweeney was partially ejected from the vehicle.
That area of the road was shut down as emergency personnel tended to the driver and accident scene. This area of the road being shut down did not have any major impact on traffic, police said.
