Reno, NV : One person dead, two injured after head-on crash on S. McCarran just north of Mill Street on Monday, February 23, 2015
A deadly accident that killed one driver left two people in critical condition, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office said.
The driver of a white Kia had a medical episode and jumped the center median while heading southbound on McCarran Boulevard, Washoe County Sheriff's spokesman Bob Harmon said.
The driver then struck a red Cadillac head-on, Harmon said.
The driver and a passenger of the Cadillac suffered severe injuries that left them in critical condition at a local hospital.
The other driver, who had the medical episode that caused the accident, died at the scene. It was not immediately known what exactly killed the driver, Harmon said.
The names of the drivers involved was not immediately release pending an investigation.
Lane restrictions on McCarran Boulevard are expected to last for the next hour.
"There's one lane opened, but people should avoid it if they can," Harmon said. "If they need to come through then there's one lane in each direction, its slow going but it is open."
