Orlando, FL : John Sill, 46, killed in fatal Orange Co. bicycle crash near John Young Parkway on Thursday, November 27, 2014
State troopers are looking into whether a second vehicle is responsible for the death of a bicyclist early Thursday morning.
Troopers said John Sill, 46, of Orlando, was hit and killed while riding on Sand Lake Road near John Young Parkway before sunrise.
According to troopers, following the accident the man's bicycle frame and tires disappeared from the scene.
Troopers said Sill was in the bike lane attempting to turn onto John Young Parkway when he was struck by an SUV and thrown onto the pavement.
The driver of the Ford SUV stayed at the scene and talked to troopers around 2:30 a.m.
Troopers believe another driver ran over Sill after the initial collision and then left the scene.
Investigators found a bike chain, lights and a reflector at the scene but could not find the rest of the bike.
They are asking that anyone with information about the crash contact the Florida Highway Patrol.
