Newnan, GA : Family injured in head-on accident on Tuesday, 20th September 2016
A mother was airlifted to Atlanta after a head-on crash Tuesday evening.
Just before 9 p.m., police said the driver of a Dodge Durango was traveling south on Greenville Street near the Coweta County Justice Center when his truck crossed the center line, striking a Suzuki Forenza head on.
The driver of the Forenza was extricated from her car and taken by air ambulance to Atlanta Medical Center. Her two children, traveling in the backseat at the time of the accident, were taken by ground to Egleston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta.
The children sustained minor injures, while their mother experienced severe leg injuries due to the accident, according to Officer Van Meadows. The driver of the Forenza, identified as Brittany Arnall, 23, was alert and oriented at the time of transport.
The driver of the Durango, identified as Lonnie Brooks, 62, was allegedly returning to Moreland from Newnan when he told police he had a seizure, according to Meadows. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played a factor. Brooks declined medical treatment.
Traffic on Greenville Street was closed for roughly 45 minutes. Charges may be pending on Brooks, according to Meadows.
