Wadena, MN : Man killed in crash on Highway 2 was driving the wrong way on Monday, March 6th 2017
The man killed in a single-vehicle crash discovered Monday morning along U.S. Highway 2 near Kellys Slough, west of Grand Forks, was driving the wrong way at the time of the wreck, authorities say.
A 35-year-old Fordville, N.D., man was killed in the accident, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol. His name has yet to be released.
Investigators believe the 2009 Ford Crown Victoria was traveling east in the the westbound lane when it struck a bridge and came to rest in a creek.The exact time of the crash is undetermined, but the Highway Patrol was called to respond to the accident at about 9:30 a.m., according to Trooper Matt Peschong.
He said there was one fatality. It was not immediately clear if there was more than one person in the vehicle at the time of the wreck.
At the scene, the Crown Victoria was submerged in a stream running through a culvert under the highway. The vehicle was totaled, lying in a mangled heap in the water. There was damage to the guardrail and bridge in the westbound lane on Highway 2, above the ditch where the vehicle was submerged.
