Severe thunderstorms in Cayce were likely a factor in a fatal crash involving a tractor-trailer and a Ford truck, Cayce police reported.

A crash involving the tractor-trailer and truck on Charleston Hwy near Old Dunbar Rd. was reported around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

One person was killed in the crash. The condition of the second driver was not immediately known.

The identity of the person who died has not yet been released.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
