Danbury,CT : Wrong-way crash on I-84 leaves one dead in Danbury on April, friday 28th 2017
A wrong-way collision killed one person Friday night in the westbound lanes of Interstate 84 near Exit 3, and caused a stretch of the highway to be closed for five hours.
Marcos Chillogalli, 41, of Danbury, was driving the wrong way in the left lane of westound I-84 Friday night when he hit the front of a pick-up truck, according to a release by state police. Danbury first responders and state police were called to the accident at 10:43 p.m. to find the two vehicles blocking all westbound traffic.
Chillogalli suffered fatal injuries and was extricated from the vehicle, police said. The 35-year-old driver of the pick-up truck, Julio Manfort, of Danbury, was taken to Danbury Hospital for serious injuries.
While Danbury and Connecticut State Police investigated, traffic was detoured off the interstate around the crash scene, and that portion of the highway remained closed until 4 a.m. Saturday, the statement said.
