Nashville ,TN : Metro Public Works employee killed after being run over by garbage truck on Tuesday night ,july 14th 2015

A Metro Public Works employee was killed on the job Tuesday night when he was hit by a a garbage truck.

Police said 19-year-old Chandler Harris was riding on the back of the truck on Commerce Street around 11 p.m. when the truck got too close to the wall near the Christian Life Center and pinned him in between the truck and the wall.

The driver, 58-year-old Larry Trenary, backed up, most likely to fix his angle, which is when Harris fell.

Trenary, who reportedly didn't realize he hit Harris, then pulled forward and ran him over again, according to police.

"The subject was dislodged from the truck, fallen to the ground. Driver did not know that he had fallen off the truck, so when he continued to back, he ran over the subject," said Metro PD Capt. Jason Starling.
