Williamstown, MA : Kills one, Bus T-bones car in Williamstown crash on Wednesday, August 20, 2014

The victim of Wednesday's fatal collision in Williamtown has been identified as Patrick Harrigan of Rensselaer, N.Y. Harrigan, 57, was heading north on Hancock Road in a Mazda 3 about 4 p.m. Wednesday when he failed to stop at the flashing red light at the intersection with Route 7, according preliminary reports and witness statements. He was struck on broadside by a Peter Pan bus heading south. First responders pronounced Harrigan dead at the scene. Williamstown firefighters used an extrication device to remove Harrigan from the vehicle. The operator of the bus, Samuel Cabrera, 62, of West Babylon, N.Y. was not injured. Asked if Cabrera would not face charges as a result of the crash, Williamstown Police Officer Shaun William said "tentatively but not absolutely," pending further investigation and cellphone data analysis. The lone passenger in the bus suffered bumps and bruises and was treated at Southern Vermont Medical Center. The force of the collision between bus and car caused the two vehicles to drift into the northbound lane and clip a third vehicle, a Honda CRV operated by H. Harry Hull, 81, of Hoosick Falls, N.Y. Hall was not injured. Authorities shut down both lanes of Route 7 for roughly 4.5 hours following the wreck. Traffic was detoured over Brodie Mountain.
