Trooper say Riley Winch of Waterbury, Vermont, choked a 23-year-old woman early Sunday morning during a domestic dispute at a home in Harrietstown, near Lake Placid.
Winch drove away in his car before troopers arrived, then returned to the home and drove away in the woman's vehicle.
