Green Valley, AZ : A person who fell off the Sahuarita Road overpass at Interstate 19 caused a crash on Wednesday, November, 15th 2017

A person who fell off the Sahuarita Road overpass at Interstate 19 caused a crash Wednesday that sent two people to hospitals, one with life-threatening injuries.

The male who fell from the overpass also was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to DPS.

The incident occurred about 8:45 a.m. in the southbound lanes, when a passenger vehicle struck the back of a box truck after the person fell from the overpass. Traffic was diverted off the interstate at Pima Mine Road for nearly two hours.

The passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle; a second person involved in the crash was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Sahuarita police assisted with traffic control and drone views of the site, a department spokesman said. The incident is still under investigation.
