BRADSHAW, NE : Farmer injured in accident by Bradshaw on Wednesday, June 7, 2017
A farmer working on a tractor became pinned under its loader in a Wednesday morning accident near Bradshaw.
Fortunately, bystanders arrived in time and their quick action saved the man from more serious injuries.
Bradshaw Fire Chief Todd Hellerich explained that the man, who he believed was 61 years of age, “was working in the bucket area, on the front end of the tractor, on the loader. While he was working, the hydraulic line ruptured and he became trapped underneath the bucket.
“Fortunately, bystanders arrived and using a Handy-man type jack were able to jack up the loader and remove him from underneath,” Hellerich said.
Initially, Hellerich’s department was dispatched on a call that the man was trapped between the tractor and the loader . . . Hellerich said the farmer was actually trapped underneath.
The Bradshaw Fire Department and York Fire and Rescue responded to the scene, which was a field along Road 19 between Roads F and G.“The farmer was transported by ambulance to York General Hospital,” Chief Hellerich said. “Fortunately, it did not appear that his injuries were life threatening.”
Again, he credited the fast action by the bystanders, saying if they hadn’t responded as quickly as they did, and then called 911, “things could have been much worse. In this case, things turned out good.”
The man’s name was not released as of press time.
