Grinnell, IA : Driver ejected from car during rollover I-80 crash on Wednesday August 20th 2014

A Des Moines woman was killed in a crash on Interstate 80 Wednesday, a new crash report shows. The crash was reported in Poweshiek County at mile marker 193 in the westbound lanes about 12:28 p.m. An Iowa State Patrol crash report shows Charlene Gibbens, 59, of Des Moines, was killed when she lost control, the car entered the north ditch and rolled. Gibbens was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Passenger Christy Thomas, 33, of Des Moines, was using a seat belt and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. She was taken to Grinnell Hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
