JANESVILLE, WI : Multiple students were injured in a bus crash in Grant County on May, Tuesday, 23rd 2017
After multiple students were injured in a bus crash in Grant County Tuesday, the debate for seat belts on buses in Wisconsin has picked up again. The Janesville School Board passed a resolution to gradually put seat belts on their buses in 2009. They have paid $15,000 to their contracted bus company, Van Galder Bus Company, for 5 traditional buses to have seat belts. All buses for special needs students are fitted with the belts as part of a federal law.
"I mean nothing is harder than your kids getting hurt. They're your life," Jacob Bennett, a father of two Janesville students said.
Bennett says he's in-favor of seat belts on all buses because he feels safer knowing his kids bus will have them.
