Burbank,CA : 88-year-old woman dies in Burbank crash on November, Friday 24th 2017
Authorities today identified an 88-year-old woman who was fatally injured in a three-vehicle collision in Burbank.
The crash was reported at 8:05 p.m. Friday at Magnolia Boulevard and East First Street, the Burbank Police Department reported.
“When police officers arrived, they found a 1990 Volvo sedan that had crashed through a chain-link fence on the north sidewalk of Magnolia Boulevard,” police said.
The driver of the Volvo, a 78-year-old man, was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, police said. His name was not released.
Delia Ortiz of Burbank, who was a passenger in the Volvo, died at a hospital, police said. A second passenger in the Volvo, described as an “elderly” woman, was treated at a hospital for injuries that did not appear life-threatening, police said.
“Witnesses reported seeing the Volvo cross over into oncoming traffic lanes after striking a raised median just east of the intersection,” a police statement said.
“The Volvo collided with two other vehicles before coming to a stop,” police said. “A pedestrian who happened to be in the path of the collision was struck by one of the cars. He sustained minor injuries.”
The occupants of the other vehicles suffered minor injuries.
“Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be factors in this collision,” police said.
