Orlando, FL : One dead, two hurt in fatal Polk County crash on Tuesday, March 28th 2017
A Man is dead after being thrown from his vehicle in a crash in Winter Haven, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
It happened Tuesday night after two vehicles collided on Cypress Gardens Boulevard at Helena Road, said PCSO spokeswoman Michele Cash.Another man was in the victim’s vehicle, Cash said. He was critically injured and flown by helicopter to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center for treatment.
Only one person was in the vehicle with which the victim collided. A woman was driving that vehicle, and she was not seriously hurt in the crash, Cash said.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Winter Haven Hopital for treatment of her non life-threatening injuries.
Deputies continued to work to identify the driver who died as of 11 p.m. Tuesday. The surviving victims’ names were not released.
Sheriff’s deputies shut down traffic in the area as they worked the scene of the crash Tuesday night. Cash advised motorists in the region to take alternate routes.
No further information was immediately available Tuesday night.
